“Tanabata Buoy” is a sculpture by Enid Corcoran and Marieka Possman that was installed on the Woonasquatucket River. it is composed of a wooden structure leafed with wishes written on marbled paper tags, Inspired by the Japanese Tanabata tradition of tying handwritten wishes to bamboo. Wishes were collected from community members at the Creative Reuse Center (CRC), at Knight Memorial Library, and Rochambeau Library. The duo hosted a free paper marbling workshop alongside the sculpture at the CRC.

This project was made possible in part through support from the Interlace Grant Fund, a regranting partner of The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
